Olga Zebrun Stinnett

 

Olga (Zebrun) Stinnett, was born on March 16, 1924 to Rose (Kehart) Zebrun and Joseph Zebrun. She grew up in the Benld, Illinois area with her two brothers, George and William, and graduated in 1942 from Benld High School.

Olga attended Illinois College for two years, being a member of the Alpha House there, and is listed in The Illio 1946[1] as graduating with a degree in Commerce (Commerce Teaching) from the University of Illinois.

Also in 1946 on June 21 she married Dr. William Ray Stinnett[3] at the Holy Dormition Orthodox Church (St. Mary’s[2]) in Benld, IL. She was able to join her husband in Japan during the Korean War when he served in the U.S. Air Force as a dentist stationed at the Tachikawa Airbase in Japan.

Olga Stinnett lived in the Carlinville, IL area, where she and Dr. Stinnett raised their son and daughter. She taught kindergarten at the Carlinville School District for twenty years, and retired in 1989. She is warmly remembered by extended family members as being a wonderful cook and a kind and gracious host.

She was a member of the Carlinville United Methodist Church, Retired Teachers Association, and Alpha Delta Kappa.

Olga Stinnett passed away November 18, 2011 at St. John's Hospice in Springfield, IL. Burial was in the Benld Cemetery.
